Cable Jacking

Dear Neighbor P who lives behind us,

Over the last few years I'v come to realize that your berry tree has been resting heavily on our garage and, more recently, I believe said berry tree was feeding our rat problem. Yesterday I was completely involved in watching MIB II when the picture completely froze and I could not get it off my screen. I sadly turned the TV off and went about my day.  When F arrived home he plopped down to drool over watch the FIFA Cup.
"What's wrong with the TV??"
"I don't know, it froze on me earlier today."
We took turns turning the TV off and on, unplugging things and eventually got the AT&T shit done be f'd up Orange screen.  Giving over to the fact that we were now cable less, I headed outside to read "Gone With The Wind". While rearranging my anti-gravity chair (LOVE) I noticed that a tree was missing. I called upon F to confirm my findings.
He confirmed.
On closer inspection we found that you apparently had been doing some tree trimming during the day. I am most happy to no longer have your berry tree co-mingling with my garage roof. I thank you for that.
However, what I do not appreciate is the cable line that is now dangling in my yard begging F to touch it.  This also leads to the fact that, um, we DO NOT HAVE CABLE. I cannot express my dismay enough at the fact that you failed to inform us of this great tragedy. Your Tree Guy called the electrical people. It is NOT their issue. It is AT&T's issue. I wish you had left us a note (the other neighbors informed us of what had happened) so I could have prepared F for the despair he was about to feel about not being able to watch the FIFA Cup. F had to call AT&T and play dumb about why the cable wasn't working and now we are must wait for AT&T to come and discover that their cable line has been cut. This is NOT COOL.
In the future PLEASE be more considerate when disabling some one's lifeblood entertainment device. A little head's up would have been nice.

Your Neighbor,
Devil's Heaven

I Call It Soccer

Dear 2010 FIFA World Cup Championship,

I would like my husband back now please. I am done watching him be hypnotized by the brightly colored soccer(football) uniforms. He sits like a lump in front of the TV and barely recognizes me through his daze. I think I even saw him drool a little the other night.
Also, FIFA broadcasting networks, those horns, the vuvuzela horn, I realize it is a part of the African soccer (football) culture, but seriously, every night I duck and hide thinking somehow a swarm of killer bees (African killer bees? do i see a connection???) has found its way into my home. Maybe at least tone it down a little? Is that too much to ask?
I know America is considered a wee baby when it comes to playing soccer (football), and F just rolls his eyes at me, because after all, in his HOMELAND soccer (football) was a huge thing, but for me, eh, whatever. But I pretty feel that way about most sports. Take or leave, no big.

So FIFA, when will you be over?? Soon I hope? Please??

Thank you so much,

Devil's Heaven.

P.S. The players are HOTT, I'll give you that. Serious YUM factor.

Men ARE from MARS

F sent me a text from work telling me how shocked the women in his office were that he turned down a piece of chocolate cake with chocolate frosting. Being the PMSing wife that I was, I told him to GO BACK and claim that piece of CHOCOLATE LOVE for me!!! At first, he claimed he could not, but I convinced him otherwise. When I got home, he wasn't there, but this is what I found on the kitchen counter in front of the microwave:
God Love him, he brought me the cake.
That had been sitting out for 3 hours, uncovered. That picture up there is EXACTLY how I found it. No plastic wrap, nothing to keep it from getting stale.
Men. They just don't understand the need to preserve the holy chocolateness.

BTW, how do you like my bright arsed mustard yellow 1970's counter tops?? Pretty RAD, eh????

24, you are PISSING ME OFF

First you make Jack a wuss.
Second, you make Chloe seem like an idiot and no one will listen to her.
Third, you RETREAD the SAME scenario OVER AND OVER AGAIN.
Seriously! How many times does CTU hire a traitor???
And Renee. YOU WERE JUST RAPPED. Are we really suppose to believe that in a six hour period you recovered from that and everything else enough to knock boots with Jack? REALLY?
And then get KILLED??? But the doctors who work on you don't have a SPEC of blood on them?
REALLY?!?!?!?!?!?

And Now, NOW Jack freaks out more about Renee getting killed than when his WIFE was killed back in session One???????????  His wife who was ALSO RAPPED???
WTF????
And I'm sorry, but Jack, you took it a little too far with the gutting of the Russian hit man. If it was in the name of National Security, ok, I can back you. But just for the sake of REVENGE???  Um, no.
24, you are not, ARE NOT making a good case for your viewers to want and go see a movie. How can you bring him back from THAT edge? HMMMMMMMMMMMM????

Because I’m a Self Declared Expert

Lately, little to no food has sounded good to me. Yes, I’ll eat. But outside of my morning granola, I can barely be tempted to heft fork to mouth. Except when it comes to Mexican fare. For whatever reason I have been on a Mexican kick for like 2 months. I cannot be satisfied. Everything I attempt to eat that is Mexican doesn’t measure up to whatever yard stick I’ve got floating around in my head. Within the last 2 weeks I have eaten at 4 different “fast food” Mexican places. Let us start with the worst and work our way up, shall we? Because as the title infers, I’ve decided I am now an Expert.

***Composer’s Note***

From here within are purely my opinions. There is no science behind it. If you do not agree with me, that is fine. We are all entitled to our own opinions.

All meals were of the same notion, Burrito, which included, a variant of “Mexican rice”, some form of Steak, pinto beans, salsa, shredded cheese, topped off with sour cream, and a side of nacho chips. Easy enough, right?

From the Category of “I can’t believe I choked it all down”: Rio Wraps! Their RIOriginal Burrito? Oh sweet lord. The “Steak” was, Watery. The rice was tasteless; the sour cream was almost nonexistent. And the steak was watery. Did I mention the steak was watery? The greasy water ran down my hand as I bite into it. Even their chips were kinda gross. I don’t mind whole grain, but these whole grain chips were the whole grain of our parents’ youth, Cardboard. The best part of the whole meal? The lemonade.

Salsarita’s Fresh Cantina. Is our next stop on dusty road of Mexican Fast Food. F is always telling me I use too much salt, and when I cook, he says my food is TOO SALTY!! I of course don’t believe him, and tell him HIS food is TOO PEPPERY!!! Anyway, my point is, Salarita’s Steak Burrito was TOO SALTY. As in I COULD NOT FINISH IT. The meat was ok, other than the saltiness. Not the highest quality steak, that’s for sure. I don’t remember what the rice tasted like, but the salsa was good. Very spicy for the “Medium” I ordered, but still good. Their pre-sweetened tea made my teeth hurt from the sugar content. Thank goodness they had unsweetened tea to tune it down with. It was a forgettable burrito. The chips however were DEVINE. I imagine they would have been even better if I’d gotten the queso dip I ordered instead of the salsa, oh well.

Taco Bell. Some say it is not real Mexican food. I kind of agree, but in a fix it will do. I’ve gotten the Grilled Steak Burrito and the Grilled Suft Steak Burrito. Both are actually quite good. Both would benefit from more sour cream, but that might be just me. They are filling, and the steak is pretty good. The nacho cheese for the chips is kind of addicting in a cheap cheese like food product way. I’m actually kind of craving this now dang it. Luckily we have a Taco Bell right by our house.

Here’s a question for my digital friends across the pond, Why do you dislike Taco Bell? My friend A, who is a transplant in the U.K., begged her friends via Facebook to send her some Taco Bell seasoning because Mexican food is a no go over there. What gives?????

And our final resting place on the road of Mexican Fast Food stops is, QDOBA. Oh, be still my growling tummy. The amount of you food you receive is gut busting. Their Queso Cheese Burrito? HEAVEN. The salsa is good, the meat is fresh. The chips are just salty enough. The rice has a good flavor. ITS GOOD people, REALLY GOOD. My one complaint is when they are building said fabu-ness is that all the sauces end up on one side of the burrito. So when you take a bite on the left side you get an explosion of salsa, sour cream, and queso sauce, but when you bite on the right you get meat, rice and beans. It is sadly lopsided. I have actually asked them to place it down the middle or even on BOTH sides. That aside, Qdoba is my top choice for good Fast Food Mexican. I am still currently looking for a good Slow food Mexican restaurant. Alas, I have yet to find it.

And just for the sake of argument, I have tried Chipotle. It does not measure up to Qdoba. It just does not. The flavors are not as strong, even if they do give you more nachos.

My New Love

I always thought that Nachos piled with cheese, drowning in sour cream was the best PMS crave food I could get. With maybe a side of cheese bread. Salty, sweet, and greasy, YUM. I never really felt satisfied though. All the heart clogging goodness could never really satisfy that deep down primal hunger.

Last night though, my PMS induced yearning was satisfied in a manner which I never thought possible. The longing was INSTANTIOUSLY quelled when The Outback Steakhouse server brought me their Aussie Cheese Fries.  SWEET HEAVEN on a plate!!!
 Aussie Cheese Fries
Aussie Fries topped with melted Monterey Jack, Cheddar,
bits of fresh chopped bacon and served with a spicy
ranch dressing. Regular 7.95 Small 5.95

That spicy ranch dressing? OMG. I can't even explain. I almost licked the dipping bowl clean. I never thought my PMS cravings would ever truly be met. But I am telling you my digital sisters, RUN out and get yourself an order. I think I even moaned when I took my first bite. They were the prefect portions of salty, sweet, gooey and greasy.
F and I got the small order, which was a good thing because lord knows we made quick work of those fries.

Yes, my new go to stress food, my new down under love, AUSSIE CHEESE FRIES.

Is it wrong to love a food in this manner?????
If it is, I don't want to be right!!!

STOP IT Already, DAMN

Dear TV Producers,

It really bothers me that you have made Jack into a softie. The death toll this year on 24 is WOEFULLY low. And let's do the math here, shall we?? Last season Jack's granddaughter was just a baby. But you lead us to believe that it has been AT LEAST six years because Renee was under cover SIX YEARS ago, so you keep mentioning. Then shouldn't said granddaughter be, oh, I don't know, SIX instead of like 3 or 4????? Seriously, I know I suck at math, but COME ON.

Also, the new CTU director? SUCKS. It is extremely hard for me to get past the stooping rolled shoulders of Bubba Gump Shrimp, but if I do indeed manage to look past that, omg, it is so hard to though, I come face to face with the fact that is his so extremely less than the late great Bill Buchanan. BB went rouge and started his OWN CTU, how damn sexy is THAT?? EXTREMELY. Bubba Gump Shrimp? He can't even keep track of his top data person! Seriously!!! Who goes missing from work for TWO HOURS during a GLOBAL CRISIS?!?!?!?!?! And his lame directive of "track her." DUDE!!! STAND UP STRAIGHT!!! GIVE AN ORDER!!!! Stop crackin on Chloe!!!! She's already saved your ass once!

To the Producers of LOST, I say, STOP FUCKING AROUND. This is the LAST season; you are supposed to be ANSWERING our questions, NOT bringing up NEW ONES. Who is the mother of Jack's snotty kid?? And when was he BORN??? Is Jacob REALLY a good guy??? Why don't the Others wear shoes?!?!?! Why did said Others STEAL all the children and WHERE are those kids now??

And let's be real, what TEENAGER in 2003 had an ANSWERING MACHINE????? SERIOUSLY????

Get your act together TV Producers.

I"ll be watching you.

There's CRACK in my General Tso's, YO

F says I'm a picky eater. Which, I disagree with, of course. I like what I like. This is not to say I won’t try new things, because I will, and I have and sometimes I like it, and sometimes, I do not. Something I fell in love with early on was General Tso's Chicken. The Chinese variety. Because there are different versions depending on the Asian country. Anyway, I love it. But for whatever reason it is not a meal I go for every time we are trying to decide what takeout menu to use. Also, I've been spoiled without even knowing it, until recently. When our office moved several years ago there was nothing out here. We were literally in the middle of a farmer's field. After several years of whining and complaining and becoming regulars at the McD's across the street, they opened a STRIP MALL a few miles down the road. And sweet heaven on a cracker, a CHINESE restaurant was one of the new places to eat at. I didn't think much of it to begin with. Yes it was good, the best I'd had in awhile actually, but like I said, Chinese isn't really my go-to take out food. Then F came along. F and his EAST COAST sensibilities. F informed me that the mid-west was majorly lacking in its Chinese food offerings. So when his work brought him out by MY work, we went to the Chinese place. You would have thought I took him home to his momma for lunch the way he reacted when he saw that it was NEW YORK STYLE CHINESE!!!

F: “You didn't TELL me THAT!!!!"

Me: "Tell you what?"

F: "That was NEW YORK STYLE CHINESE!!!!!"

Me: "Uuumm, So???"

F: "OMG. You don't even know that there is a difference, DO YOU?!?!?!?!"

Me: "Uhhhhh. no?"

F: "*sigh* NEVER. MIND."

From that point on F and I tried SEVERAL Chinese places, and I have to say, the man is right. There IS a difference. NY Style is different. It is just BETTER. I can't explain it. And when I had it the other day, and ate it at my desk and put the little tin it came in, in the trash can next to my desk? Yeah, the smell. THE SMELL was like the cartoon finger of smell, tickling my nose, teasing my taste buds to remember and WANT MORE. I cannot tell you how crazy it drove me the entire REST OF THE DAY.

I HAD TO HAVE MORE.

So I decided that that's the difference.

NY Style Chinese has crack in it.

Plain and simple.

General Tso’s NY Style Crack.

I think the new name will catch on, don’t you?

I'm a TV Watcher

I am an avid TV watcher. I love a good show. Ones that make me cry (Grey's), laugh (Ugly Betty), scream at the TV (god bless you 24, F thinks I'm crazy), think (Lost), chuckle at juvenile behavior(Super Natural) and a whole gambit of other reactions/emotions. It always distresses me when I find a good show, and they cancel it. DEAD STOP. No great wrap up ending. NADA. Drives me nuts!!! I hate opening my TV Guide (which HATE the new format from the get, H.A.T.E.) and it tells me a whole set of new shows are being canceled.

Recently? Doll House. When I watched the pilot, which F actually watched with me, we were both, "Eh, kinda not so good." But we hung in there and it got better, and BETTER. The basis of the show echoes one of the ideas behind The Matrix. i.e. being able to program the brain like a computer. Downloading not only knowledge, but also the personality to go along with it. There are so many levels to this show that have yet to be explored. Moral. Physical. Mental. Legal. But it wasn't doing well enough in the ratings and they canned it.

Pushing Daisies? CANNED. Such a good show. It was nutty, and fresh and just GOOD. I was so upset that it was canceled I missed the final episodes. I have no idea how it ended.

Another one that was ended without an ending, Veronica Mars. They literally left us with a cliffhanger. That is no way to end a series!!!

I always find out about the fan rallies to save a show AFTER the show has been saved. Like Medium. CBS was SMART and picked it up. I wish I knew where to find out about these rallies, because there are so many shows I would have loved to help try and save.

Anyone remember Dark Angel?? Another one ended without a TRUE ending.

I see a pattern here, apparently I'm quite the James Cameron groupie.

I realize all shows survive on ratings. And in this day and age of TiVo and DVRs, I think it is highly irresponsible of the TV industry to still rely so heavily on "LIVE TV" ratings. If you don't watch it when it airs, it doesn't get counted. STUPID. Can I just tell you? I have 7 episodes of Grey's Anatomy on my DVR. I just can't get all my TV watching in when it actually airs. Change your ways TV industry!!!!

Anyway, I am frustrated by it all.

Like a good book, you don't want your shows to end.

Jack is BACK, so you can GO AWAY!

Last night, my sexy save the world, misunderstood, rule breaking, kill anyone who gets in his way; bad boy, TV boyfriend FINALLY came back. That’s right my digital friends, JACK IS BACK. Days in advance I began preparing F for this event. F knows when Jack is around, he is my main focus, nothing else matters. I’ve loved him for 24 hours each season for the last eight. Jack has taught me many useful things that will come in handy when my turn to save the world arrives. I know how to torture using common household items, I know how to hurt you even if my hands are tied behind my back, and I know that breaking the rules is ok when it comes to national security, shoot first, ask questions later, people are more willing to talk when they are in pain and slowly bleeding to death. So do NOT mess with me, I am an avid student of Jack’s.

Knowing his defeat, F went to bed. Jack was well into hour 2 of the season premier last night when F calls to me from the bedroom, “DH! DH! Can you come here?!?!?” I muted the conversation between President Taylor and President Pompadour Hair.

“F, unless you are bleeding to death, can it wait until a commercial?”

“Yes.” ***pause*** “Just come turn off the light when you get a chance.”

“What??!!! Are you freaking KIDDING ME?!?!?!!?!? Shit.”

I believe I’ve shared when F has done this before. Been so lazy he will not get out of bed and turn off the light, 8 feet away. But wants me to come from the other side of the house and do it for him. Needless to say, I did not go shut the light off. When I finally went to bed he was half awake.

F: “whhhhaaaaaa?”

Me: “This crap about coming from the other end of the house to shut the light off? It ends, now. You not getting out of bed to walk the 8 feet to shut off the light is just bullshit lazy.”

Yeah, buddy, you better watch it. Jack is teaching us all kinds of new tricks this season. Last night I learned a whole new use for a fire ax. 4:56pm.

Just sayin.

Where's the NUTS??!?!?! (in old lady "Where's the BEEF?!?! voice)

I just ate a Hershey's with Almonds bar. Size: 1.45 oz or 41g for my digital pals across the pond.

Now I thought I remembered the days of Hershey's with Almonds, when they first came out, and it was jammed packed with ALMONDS.

This one? This one had 8 almonds. 5 and 1/2 inches of chocolate contained 8 almonds. In a straight line, down the center of the bar. Roughly 2 almonds in each square, depending on how you break your bar apart.

Seriously Hershey's??? 8 ALMONDS??? I know things are tight for everyone right now, but I would think you'd want to REWARD someone for coughing up the cash to purchase said candy bar with more than 8 measly almonds. I mean what's next? A Take 5 will only have a pretzel in ONE of the two pieces? Or maybe caramel in one of the two pieces?(depending on what package you buy of course, some come with more than 2 pieces of candy in them). Are you going to take ALL the goodness out of our candy fun?? Smaller sizes. Fewer nuts and less caramel. WHAT IS THE CANDY WORLD COMING TO????

It's called good marketing and quality products. Look into it Hershey's!!!

Another One Bites the Dust

I haven’t been reading Blogs for very long, but I have become attached to a certain few and in fact have very little time or inclination to find new people to read. Not to say that I haven't. I celebrate the day I found April's Reign and Big Mama. Since I’ve began reading I’ve seen 5 go the way doo-doo bird. Most recently I’d found my way to Wind In Your Vagina, a dad’s prospective of day to day life with the kids. Just as I was getting through his back logs, he went all privatized. The biggest blow to my reading line up was Such Great Heights, known by those who loved her as Clink. Every now and again I’ll cruise over to her site to see if she’s back to posting, and once in awhile I’ll get a small hit, but nothing daily. No dissection of her wedding day. No new from-the-nose-down pictures. Did she start a new Blog? I don’t know. It happened in the past; she changed providers, or URLs. Same thing happened with [redacted] when his life changed via a break-up. He’s been posting on the new Blog for about 3 years now. Hell, I don’t even remember what his old blog was.
And let’s not forget The Company Bitch. She was my first. She just stopped. No warning, like Clink. No clue to the new site, like [redacted]. Just one post that left you wanting more. And now? Now I’ve lost Each of the Two. She was back from “theater camp” one day, promising to tell us all that had gone down and all that was to come with the ever looming wedding, and then:

Blog not found
Sorry, the blog you were looking for does not exist. However, the name eachofthetwo is available to register!

Whaaaaaaaaaa????? Are you kidding me??? I can’t find new ones fast enough to replace the old ones. Blogs are like good books that you never want to end. You want to continue to know how their lives evolve and change. It’s like someone ripped out the last chapter. There have been days when I toy with the idea of stopping. When I have nothing to give. When I want to share, but know it is just too personal to do so.
So I know how they feel. Sometimes, it is just easier to grab your coat and leave when nobody is looking.
Problem is, they ARE looking. Looking and waiting to see you again.

Deadly Habit

Turkey's Smoking Ban Takes a Hit
Enraged at having his cigarettes confiscated, a customer killed a restaurant owner in southwest Turkey. It's the first—and hopefully last—such casualty since a ban on smoking in bars and restaurants took effect. The Turks are heavy smokers, but similar bans have worked in places like Paris.

That is crazy insane!!! People have no self control anymore. It's a pack of cigs for pete's sake! Was it really worth the loss of a life and your own personal freedom?????
God help us all.

Isane to Get This??

Have any of you seen this new workout infomerical? I've heard of Jillian's 30 Day Shred. And when I Googled it, I got all kinds of hits about people Blogging their way through it with Jillian. But over the weekend I watched a new infomerical about INSANITY. Where they were all about showing how much these people sweated. Zoomed in on the puddle of sweat on the floor under one person. And the voice over is pretty hilarious because it is all 'no bullshit! if you can't commit, don't bother trying!' Which of course made me want to try it out. And as opposed to 30 days, it is 60 days. With several CD's, a calendar poster telling you which workout to do on which day, (way cool, who couldn't use that kind of help?) and a chart to chart your progress from day 1 to day 60, and a FREE T-Shirt if you send in your before and after photos! This is definitely aimed at people who already are workoutaholics. Those people who spend hours in the gym anyway and just can't seem to lose or tone that last little bit.
As I sat there and watched the hottie Shaun T "push, dig deep!" I wondered if I could commit to 60 days of working out. Many people who try the 30 day shred never finish it in 30 days. But I REALLY wanted to try. What held me back? The price. "Just 3 EASY payments of $39.95!!" The math? Rounded up, $120 bucks, and that didn't include Shipping & Handling.
I already have a lovely, dusty collection of workout videos sitting in the basement under the TV I bought specifically for working out in the basement. Yeah. But as my b-day creeps closer, I can't help but not want to be, flab. We haven't been to the gym in AGES, and boy howdy, I can tell.
Do they have a video out there that can cure lazy?????

I Must Have This T-Shirt

I said something similar to this ALL flipping season:

That and, "That stupid bitch FBI chick has GOT TO GO!!!!!!"
